Iceland Trip

Day 1 - Keflavik
I was prepared to the cold but not to that. 7° 30km/h winds and raining. That was my first night in Iceland. I was happy though because that's my kinda of weather.
I arrived in Keflavik where there is the only Intl. Airport. The city put me a bit down(respect to all the people who lives there) but I was scared because it looked like a base camp in the south pole not like a city. Every building is low and "prefabricated looking". The day after I moved to Reykjavik, the capitol city.

Day 2 - Reykjavik
Amazing.
There is not other words to describe this city. Happy, clean, fun, funny, just everything. The only "issue"..EXPENSIVE. Ok I come from an expensive city in my country but that was insane. In Reykjavik a dinner has an averenge price of 70-100€ for person. Ok not _everywhere_ but most of the place have this kinda of price. They asked me 15€ for a pizza(12"). 15€?? ARE you KIDDING ME?
In anything else Reykjavik is unique.
The Lake in the center of the city Tjornin is just beautiful when at sunset the sky(clean of pollution) reflects so perfectly on the water.

Day 3 - Trip to Jokulsarlon
Maybe the best day of my staying. I left Reykjavik around 8.30am and started a 400km long drive(plus 400km drive back) to the Jokulsarlon: an Iceberg Laguna. They set part of 007 and Tomb Raider here. This is one of the first picture that day (later by 2gb would have been way more stressed ) Taken from an hill facing East, the next "city" on the way was Selfoss..

After a while it is possible to see on the left from the ring road a very nice fall but that's not the best one, in fact, after about 30km there is Skogafoss. This fall is just amazing: first because of the settings in a awesome valley on the sea, second because view of a glacier from the top of the fall. And finally I was there. The Jokulsarlon was just behind a turn as the book said. There are no words to describe the feelings and the place. It's just amazing, that's it.

Day 4 - Þingvellir + Gulfoss and Geyser
This place is famous basically for 2 reasons:
1) Is right on the crack between North American tectonic plates and the European one
2) The Alþingi was founded in 930 A.D. and it is one of the oldest parliamentary institutions of the world.
I took a short trip to vist Geyser. I love the place but way too many tourists for me. JUst some kms north of Geyser there is this beautiful waterfall with 3 jumps. Gulfoss. I was so lucky to get a rainbow almost in any picture..but not so much about the humidyt infact I got some inside the camera and I had to spent almost a night to clean and dry it.
This is a panoramic view from the top of the hill/cracks and of geyser.

I went walking that night and I got some very nice shots. First i found a very weird puddle, so deep and so clear. I even found some crazy icelandic guys diving in the lake.

Day 5 - Snæfellsnes peninsula
During Day 5 I traveled north to the Snæfellsnes peninsula. It was rainy and cloudy during the morning so I was not able to get some good shots, also because I got kinda of ill that day. I was just below the Snæfellsjökull, a strato-cone volcano, very famous because of Jules Verne´s novel “A journey to the centre of Earth” when I encountered a movie set. There were dozens of people out in the cold shoting some kind of documentary/movie. It's amazing how you can find people in the middle of nowhere just doing their job. They did not let me see the set and I had to get back on the main route. There are some very nice view on the road that follow the coastline of the peninsula and there was a little village in a bay that was stunning, too bad I did not take any pictures of it. Anyway in the afternoon was better but I had to get back to Reykjavik. I?ll might upload someday the only shots I have from this day.
Day 5 - Reykjanes peninsula
That place is HOT for real. The earth is literally alive and it's possible to see often vapor and hot spots. The first day I went around a little bit, driving up and down. I found a geothermic energy plant and some very cool views. This is the famous link between the two continents plate: USA & Europe. It's a bridge just over the mid-Atlantic ridge.

The Soul of the Night

And so let me fully explain this deviation:

It may sounds something stupid but the night it looks like another world for me. Going around the city and the countryside with the car, no traffic, just you and the dark landscape. I think it's the darkness that adds something to it...you don't really see, you feel it. You can go fast or slow but around you is the same, so obscure: a void. I like that, I might sound weird but don't you guys like this kind of feelings? The sensation that around you there is something that you don't see, but you can feel it. I am not drunk and not even high or depressed, but I just want to share this kind of weirdness, just to check if there is around here any night's lovers> like me. Im not goth and I just like the night for what it is. If you have anything to comments...just do it.
Don't you guys work better at night that during the day?
Don't you feel attracted by it?
Don't you feel that everything happy that happened to you was at night?

Break

In on quite-mode
I am taking a break on dA for many reason. I am not away from dA i am just a passive member who doesn't submit anything(at least for a while).
Possible causes:

  • Lack of creativity

  • Lack of time

  • Lack of aim

  • Lack of none of the above and just don't feel like doing anything

Cures:

  • Zen meditation

  • Relaxing(as long as it's human possible)

  • Holidays(just tried, they didn't work

  • Time

Please if you have a little bit of time I would really like to see what you guys think about blogs

I got back from Berlin 2 days ago and it was such an amazing city. I'll write something more soon. I didn't have my camera with my, so I can't submit anything from there.

MY BIKE HAS BEEN STOLEN
That's a really sad news for me. Some mother****** stole it this morning from outside the building I was in. My dear bike that served me proudly for 4 years, thousands of km made with it, and now it's gone. So sad!
RIP

Although my subscription is ending in a month(sigh sigh) and I don't know yet if I am going to get another one, I submitted some more prints, almost all from the Iceland series.
